Nov 12, 2023

Terex Utilities has announced a new spin bottom drill bucket for use with digger derricks.

The new 46-cm diameter spin bottom drill bucket was introduced at the 2019 International Construction and Utility Equipment Expo (ICUEE), held October 1 to 3 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The drill bucket is designed to improveproductivity when drilling in unstable ground conditions, such as wet or sandyenvironments.

As the tool drills into the ground, barrel teeth cut through the material while the bucket captures it, allowing the operator to dump the material outside of the hole. The spin bottom is simple to control with forward and reverse motions to open and close the tool.

“We are always looking for ways to make ourcustomers’ jobs easier,” said Dale Putman, product support manager for auger toolingand auger drills. “When the ground material won’t stay on the auger carryflight, the spin bottom drill bucket enables digger derrick operators to cleara hole faster and easier.”

While Terex Utilities has previously offeredsimilar tools for auger drills, this is the first time this type of tool hasbeen available for digger derricks from the company.

Additional sizes of up to 91-cm diameter areavailable.

The tool features 1.5 cm wall thickness, 76 cmbarrel length, and 2.6 metre overall length. As well, dirt teeth and pilot bitare standard for the spin bottom drill bucket, and hex hub options include 5cm, 6.3 cm, and 7 cm.

“Terex both designs and manufacturers auger toolsto get the maximum performance out of your drilling equipment,” Putman said.

Furthermore, for unique drilling challenges, thecompany will design and build custom auger tooling for specificapplications.
